E105 light problem

I just bought the E105 and noticed that every once in awhile the lights on the phone turn on and stay on. The phone is closed and hasn't been touched. The light stays on and drains the battery. Has anybody else run into this problem?

Have you got cell broadcast enabled?
Menu-Message-Broadcast-Receive=>Enabled or disabled
If CB is enabled then every new broadcast will be accompanied by the backlight activating, even if the phone is closed. Turn it Off, then you should not have a problem.

Cell broadcast is a type of On-the-Screen information service.

(I know everything comes on the screen only). If enable, it will allow the operator to directly flash message on the Mobile phone screen. Consider it as the flash message which is used by the operator. They can flash anything ranging from news, jokes, games, entertainment etc.... directly on the screen. The beauty is that it does not alert the user and disturb him. It comes quitely and passes off after a set period of time.

Which region do you live in and who is your operator?
PS what does metareye mean?

I live in OKlahoma City and use T-mobile. Metareye was taken from a 3D plugin company who uses a technology called metaballs to make 3D objects.

Could a HAM radio radio trigger the cell broadcasting? I have a neighbor who has a tower in his yard.

Ok, now THAT'S what metareye is.
No. The radio cannot trigger cell broadcast. It is on a per handset basis, and needs to be enabled by the service provider. Usually the incoming broadcasts are free, but the more info things are charged.

Does the light problem occur now?

It hasn't occured since I turned the broadcast off. But it never happend very often before, about once a week. The last time, I had the phone on the desk in front of me and the light just came on. I watched it for awhile and the light stayed on for about five minutes before I finally opened the phone to turn it off.

Keep the phone open for a while and check, if any problem occurs.

E105 light problem - no cell broadcast

I am having the annoying light problem on my E105 which drains the battery rapidly. I looked at my Text Messages -> Broadcast, but the "Broadcast" is greyed out on my phone. Does that mean that it isn't available AND it is disabled?

If it is not enabled on my phone, then I'm still having the light problem.

Does anyone have anything else I can try?

Thanks!

old message, but still a problem...

I was excited to find this message about the light coming on and staying on (and draining the battery) of my Samsung e-105. I too have had the same problem on 2 different e-105's. AND, my broadcase is grayed out and cannot be changed. Did anyone every find out whazzup with this crazy phone? otherwise, I really like it.
