a660 Flip Phone Help!!

I have purchased a Samsung SPH-a660 Flip Phone.....I refuse to pay for browser service on my phone with my service provider because I use the internet on my PC. I would like to download games etc to my phone. I purchased the USB Cable and installed the drivers. When I hook up the cable to the phone it recognizes that that USB is connected ....however I get the following message:

Handset is set as a modem for PC or PDA. No data apps on handset can be used, eg. messaging, browser, downloads, pictures.

Any suggestions, other than paying for browser service on my cell......

Need ideas!!!!

hey I have the same samsung a660.. there are two sites which can aid you.. you should be able to add ringtones, wallpapers and even games.. hope it works.. good luck:

all software is free.. but it does take time to actually turn the phone on, add files, delete the registry, turn it back on.. blah blah but its better than using the browser and paying ...

I followed the instructions and downloaded and installed the drivers. I then downloaded bitpim. When I go to retrieve data from my phone I get the following error message. "LG-VX440 on Com 1: The Phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to brew."

Are there any settings in the phone itself that I have to change....

Any help would be appreciated....

Hey that's odd.. I followed the given directions and had absolutely no problem... has anyone else tried? I found it pretty simple after spending a couple hrs racking my brain.. any way good luck... keep trying!!! It is possible!

Hey Jazz....figured out the next step...I didnt have the latest version of Bitpim. Got one step closer...at least now it is recognizing the connection... in the list of phone types the a660 is not listed...what one did you use??
