T9 text input for A680

I can't for the life of me figure out how to scan through different word possiblities when using T9 input on my A680. I think I've tried every button on the phone and the owners manual is no help at all. Am I missing something?

PS - Anyone know where I can download Java Apps for this thing, I could really use a checkbook program.
