What data cable do you have, serial or usb? Are you sure the cable is compatible to E310? What have you tried so far? Have you installed the necessary driver (if usb cable) and EasyGPRS or other S/W?

I have both, the serial works fine. I have easy gprs and have installed the xp prolific drivers since the mini cd supplied had no xp drivers.

Do you mean you have both serial and usb cable and the serial one works fine but not the usb one? Do you know if the Prolific driver installed successfully? Did you see any Prolific usb-to-serial ... (COMx) under Ports (COM & LTP) in Device Manager? x can be any number from 3 and higher. Have you change the Port setting in EasyGPRS to COMx to match with the Prolific driver? You also may have to change the speed to 230400 in EasyGPRS setup.

In that case, my guess is the usb driver was not installed probably. As I said, check Device Manager and under Ports (COM & LPT), see if you see the line for Prolific driver. Otherwise, it could be that the usb cable is not compatible to your phone.
