I just recieved a USB Data Cable for my phone, it came with the cable and the driver disk, so I insert the disk, hook up the cable and so on, installing the damn thing and all that.

Well when I go to hook it up to my phone, the phone beeps, the computer beeps, the phone says USB CONNECTED, and thats it. How am I suppose to transfer files from my computer to the phone? I don't have an option to do that anywhere I can see. I thought it would be as simple as using a mp3 player, just plug in and drag&drop over, but thats not the case.

I heard talk of certain ports and COMs being used, but I don't understand how to do this stuff.

Please help, this is really frustrating!!!

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as mp3 player or digital camera where you can see it as a removeable drive in your PC. You need an application software to be able to upload or download between your PC and your phone. There are free S/W such as PClink from Samsung and Bitpim from bitpim.org. There are also companies like Mobileaction, Futuredial and Datapilot who make S/W for that purpose, but they are not free.

Okay, I have a few programs downloaded but they dont work. When I connect the phone to the computer, the computer can detect the phone, I'm 100% positive of that, the only problem is that these programs can't detect the phone. Can someone tell me what Port to connect the phone too, which COM to assign, and how to do this?

Go to device manager and see if there is a Samsung modem or USB Virtual Serial Driver and check which port is assigned to the Samsung modem or USB Virtual Serial Driver. Use that for the s/w. You may also check the following thread for other references:

Thanks, I was able to find the COM and port in which it was connected, and I input that into the s/w (Bitpim), but it still says there is no phone recognized!

Somehow, some people can make it work easily but some can't. I got the feeling that may be the phone itself has a firmware that disable this data cable function. Talk to your service provider and see what they say about this. By the way, when your phone displays USB connected, does it display any other things. It could be that it is allowed to be used as CDMA modem only and not for others like picture or ringtone download. However, I am not sure about that. Sorry that I can't solve your problem.

CDMA or GSM are different network technologies and they are not compatible. SCH-A650 is a CDMA phone and EasyGPRS is not suitable. You can find the specification of A650 from the following link:
