Wet Samsung X426

I was riding my motorcycle home from work - in the rain . I stopped and got a zip-lock bag at a friends house - to keep the phone dry. It was already a little wet - but this wasn't the first time I got caught in the rain & there was no problem last time. But this time & got home & the thing was vibrating like mad. The display was dimly lit & the buttons would not respond. So I took the battery out & put it & the phone in the basement - next to the dehumidifier. So far - no change - still vibrates when the battery goes in. So - it looks like I'm in the market for a new phone. I didn't get the replacement insurance with my service. I figured I could probably replace the thing for the yearly cost of the rider. Besides... What are the odds?

Anyway - I'm new to this whole game... please educate me.

I'm on this plan: https://www.celloneusa.com/ECell/dis....do?spoid=1004

How do I know the phone I buy on-line will work with my service & what is this UNLOCKING thing I read about?

Thanks...

First off, sounds like you've been lucky with the phone for some time. I myself ride, and always carry my phone inside my leathers. One reason is I can't hear it/feel it any other place, second is my bike vibrates so bad that I'm afraid that I'll lose it, and lastly, as you've stated, I don't want to get it wet.

Now for the online question. There really isn't any way of knowing for sure whether or not the phone is going to work. If buying off ebay, look at the seller's rep, if it's up there, you probably shouldn't have any problem. But, buying off line is always a gamble. I personally have never had a problem with anything I have bought from there. It's just a chance your going to have to take.

If your that worried, buy a new one from your provider, that way you have no worries.

I had it in my jacket pocket (but not a rain-proof jacket).
I'll put it back next to the de-humidifier & see what happens in the AM.

A night next to the de-humidifier did the trick. I got lucky this time. But I won't let it get rained on again. I suppose I'll keep shopping for a replacement anyway. Maybe I'll find a bargain - or a phone I like better... maybe one with a camera... or one of those screansavers that hypnotize girls.

Wet phone solution

I would probably just let the phone sit in a dry environment for a few weeks or so just to be sure and see if that'll work.
