sending mp3 ringtones to P207

i have a P207 and it takes mp3's as ringtones so i was wondering how i can send mp3 songs to my phone from my computer. I know how to shorten the length of the song but is there anything else i need to do for my phone to be able to play it? basically i have shortened versions of songs in mp3 format on my computer that i want to send to my phone and make them ringtones.
