Specifics: prepaid Stimobile over SprintPCS, Samsung SPH-a660, cell web access 18 cents/day.

Linking data cable to the phone causes the phone to disconnect, e.g. Laptop->SPH-a660->web seems to require a subsequent connect to a dial-up ISP which might then be charged at the current per minute rate rather than the 18 cents/day rate.

A few questions:
1. Is the above accurate or am I missing some important step, e.g. web logon data supplied via the laptop as if the cell?
2. If one buys a more expensive phone will a prepaid service allow activation or do prepaid phone services exclusively service phones packages with their prepaid cards?
3. Is there a more expensive Samsung model which will allow laptop->cell->web access on this prepaid service at the 18 cents/day rate?
