Does anyone have any information about how to remove the java networking restriction on the t-mobile branded t509?

I tried a few of the debug/test codes but failed to locate any java configuration menu. I assume at this point the only way to fix this would be to reflash with an unrestricted firmware, but perhaps someone has a better idea?
