You can't put your own ringtones on, you can connect to a pc and browse files on the phone, they're totally un-modifible. My wife's Samsung does have awesome speech-to-text recognition however...

Then I got the Sanyo "rugged" model with the readylink because Sanyo was the only company making readylink phones at the time. The phone turned out to not be so rugged, and they replaced it with Sanyo's upgraded model(the first one with the interchangeable colored faceplates), which had major firmware issues and problems that were well documented by sprint. Anyway, I went right back to them and got another Samsung. Worked amazingly well, loved it, etc. When the Samsung Blade was released, I wanted it but couldn't afford it. About year and a half ago, I got an amazing deal on the original Sanyo Katana...not quite what I wanted(the Blade is what I wanted). The Katana turned out to be everything I wanted in a phone and more. I'm particularly rough on my phones. If a phone lasts me 6-10 months, I consider it a quality, rugged, durable phone. The Katana still works. I upgraded to the Katana DLX model, which is now a year old and is still in perfect working shape(though it looks like it's been to war and back). As much as I love samsung, the Katana line made me a Sanyo fan. I won't get any other Sanyo phones, just the Katana line...it's that or a Samsung.

#12 | | Junior Member | I love Samsung phone because of my first hadn set & I found it's menu are easier than others I checked. The phone I used to use in India was better as that had lot's of ring tunes. They didn't lock their phone. This Samsung belongs to the North American provider might be a garbage unfortunately as they don't allow custom mp3 as a ring tune. But I heard other brand we can....so compare to that Samsung is not a good choice if u wish to do somthing abt custom ring tune.Sometimes I wish to bring Samsung from Asia to get rid this damn North American one.

#15 | | Junior Member | Well, I've only had one Samsung phone so far, but I was pretty impressed with it. The T629, native to the T-Mobile network, was a pretty sweet phone. It was my first slider, before it my preference was for flips. The only thing I didn't like about the phone was that it freaked out when I tried to use my 2Gb Micro SD card.
Unfortunately, my room mate who got me the line is giving it to her girlfriend, but now I'm waiting on an A737 on my boyfriend's AT&T plan, looks like a much nicer phone, should be here tomorrow.
