I actually just made up some numbers. Just make sure they are not the same as any other pics or vids that you already have in your phone.

I used Pazera Free Video to 3GP Converter. It was a free download and pretty easy to use. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Maybe try a different song?

i had gotten the ringtone to work before then it stopped working and i don't know what's wrong i've tried to upload it the same way that i had before and i can get it all the way to the albums but when someone calls it will only play as silent and i don't know why.

Mine also wouldn't play as the ringer until I changed the file name as stated before. If you have already done this, then I'm not sure what's wrong. I wish I could help further, but I am new to this myself.

To make a ringtone or screensaver, simply use Windows Movie Maker, which comes free with Windows XP and Vista.

    1. Start Windows Movie Maker. Import or drag a photo, animation clip and/or trimmed mp3 file clip to appropriate time line in Windows Movie Maker. (I don't use audio for screensavers so just drag video if you don't want sound). Video and audio clips should start at 0 and should not exceed 30 seconds. You can drag right end of both audio and video clips so both are equal in length. Adjust volume to max so ringtone isn't too quiet.

    2. Save the movie file (not the project) using the default options. I use the "High Quality Video (small)" preset for this. You should now have a WMV file.

    3. We now have to convert the WMV file to a 3g2 file. This converter is free: Quick Media Converter Freeware (I can't post URL) by Cocoon Software. Change menu to English (default is French). In this program, click the icon of the phone and select the appropriate conversion setting (Video Mobile 3g2 -> 176x220 worked for me). Now click the blue folder with the green plus icon to the left to find your wmv file(s) to convert. These will appear in the list. Note which folder or directory the 3g2 file will be saved at. Then click the "start conversion" icon, wait, and voila! Put this file in the DCIM root folder of the SD card for your phone. You now have a ringtone or screensaver.

Another 3p2 free converter is Freez 3GP Video Converter.

Drag WMV file to converter or click on "Add." Pick "3GPP2" from the "File Format" dropdown.

Here's the settings I used for my LG Rumor. You can adjust the resolution for the Rant:

    Video Settings
    Video Code: MPEG4
    Resolution:176x144 (176x220 for Rant?)
    Width: 176
    Height: 220
    Video Quality: 8-Medium
    Zoom Mode: Letterbox

    Audio Settings
    Audio Code: AAC-LC
    Audio Bitrate: 48kBPS
    Audio Frequency: 22050 Hz
    Channels: Mono

*Note: Width and Height differ from the resolution and work with the LetterBox setting in order to create black bands above and below your actual video/picture content when displayed on the phone. If you leave Height set to 144 you will get white bands instead and it doesn't look as good.

After you adjust the settings, click the "Convert Now!" button to save your 3G2 file.

Copy the 3G2 file to your phone SD card.

I think you can right click the file and select rename. Not sure if vista works that way, but maybe. Rename the file with .avi on the end.
