    1. Attach an mp3 to an email and send it to your cell phone.

    or..............

    2. Install a microSD card into your phone.

    3. On your cell phone, go to Settings & Tools/#8 Memory/#1 Save Options/#3 Sounds/ and and select Card Memory.

    4. Next, go to Media Center/Music & Tones/My Sounds/Record New and record a short sample to save to the card.

    5. Remove the card from your cell and open it on a computer to view the files. You will find your recorded sample in the My Sounds folder. That is where you will want to store the ringtones made using the following information.

    6. Download PureVoice from qctconnect.com/products/purevoice_downloads.html

    7. Use PureVoice to open the file you are wanting to use as a ringtone and convert it to the qcp format.

    8. Once converted, copy the qcp file and paste it into the My Sounds folder on your microSD card that should still be plugged into your computer.

    9. Once you have the files you want on the card, insert it back into your cell phone.

    10. Now go back to Media Center/Music & Tones/My Sounds/and you will see the new files.

    11. Select the one you want to use as a ringtone and use the "Set As" feature seen in the lower left corner of your screen to set it as your ringtone, contact ID or alert tone.

I'm still looking for a simpler way, but I've only had the phone one day.

I have an Alias 2 and have wanted a ringtone for it that I found on the web. Couldn't figure out how to do it until I read some of the posts here and I thank you.

Turns out all I needed to do was download the tone to my PC's desktop. I then dragged it to My Documents. When I opened it, it opened in VZW's Rhapsody(not sure why/how that happened btw) player and it had been cut to 28 seconds. I then clicked on Email this file to my email addy. Once it appeared on my PC, then all I had to was email it to the vzwpix addy. When it arrived, I just used the Option: Save it as a Ringtone. Voila!!! It works.

I read all of these forums and still couldn't put any good quality(mp3) ringtones into my Alias2. Then a couple weeks later I tried again and got it to work. Turns out most people on these forums were right all along. They just weren't specific enough for us understand. Happy to of gotten mines to work, I decided to post here and try to help others by being more specific.

    1. YOU DO NOT NEED QCP FILES! THEY SOUND HORRIBLE! Trust me on that one. Your Alias2 CAN AND IS ABLE TO USE HIGH QUALITY MP3 files as ringtones, it's a fact, I've done it, it's just not a smart phone so the ONLY way to give it mp3 ringtones is to:

    2. Log onto your "Computer's Email" not your phone. For example your hotmail or yahoo, etc. (example: hotmail. com) don't put a space before com

    3. Attach the mp3 file (it doesn't have to be small, u don't need to edit it in anyway), you don't need a subject, you don't need a message.

    4. Send it to your "Phone's Email". For example if you have Verizon like me, it would be YourCellPhoneNumber @ vzwpix.com (example: 1234567890 @ vzwpix.com) Don't put spaces next to the @ symbol, I just did it because this site doesn't allow it unless blahblahblah.

    5. Now wait...in a couple of seconds your phone will receive a multimedia msg. Open the message then go to Options and choose the 4th choice which is "Save As Ringtone".

    6. GRATS!!! You successfully added a high quality MP3 ringtone to your not so smart Alias 2 phone! *CHEERS* Enjoy!

Is there any other way to put high quality ringtones on my alias 2 other than emailing it to myself? I dont have a data plan, so it is really expensive to send myself ringtones. I have an sd card, but the qcp thing isnt really working for me becaused it is all static... please help!

Well, I just got this piece of **** to replace my EnV3 since the bastards at Verizon lied to me & claimed that they no longer carried the EnV3. The EnV3 was SO much easier to put ringtones on it, they could be in Mp3, at the highest bitrate, & no converting was necessary, nor E-mailing, just copy & paste onto the mem card was it! But, this iece of crap! I copied & pasted the exact same Mp3 ringtones from my old phone onto this one & the card shows no files in ANY folder I place them into. WTF?!?!?!?! I even tried thaqt ****ty-ass QCP,. & it sounds like it was recorded off an AM station onto a low bias blank tape that was then dropped into a river for a week, dried out & then transferred to my cell!

WHY must Verizon reverse engineer these kick-ass cells to make us HAVE to buy their crappy ringtones?! WHy buy it when I own these CD's & can make it out of the part of the song that I want, & they don't carry most bands I listen to to anyway! This is aggravating beyond words! If only my EnV3 hadn't crapped out on me, I'd not be in this headache of a mess right now!! Unfortunately I still have nearly a year left w/the scumbags at Verizon!

Anyway, can someone here PLEASE tell me what I could possibly be doing wrong that makes this not work for me? & BTW, I did format the mem card in the new phone already prior to doing this.

Question Re: Ringtones on the Samsung Alias 2?

-So I just got the Alias 2 today and i love it...except for the ringtone thing, my LG Voyager was so much easier to get custom ringtones on, who is designing these phones at verizon?! theres a damn ringtone folder on the sd card yet its useless as is the sounds one ughh. anyways, this phone came out like a year and a half ago, PLEASE tell me someone has found a simple SUCCESSFUL way to get custom mp3 tones on this phone. I tried the email thing and it didnt work, i have data package too, it just came as a blank text. it said multimedia message but there was nothing in it to open?? and the qcp conversion method is not good, the quality is god awful and volume is way too low. Please tell me there is some program like BitPim or something that you can use via a usb cable to get high quality ringtones on this phone. Thank you for any help!!!!
