I have a Samsung SGH-a657 and I'm trying to install a Java application. I've transferred the .jad and .jar files to the phone and moved them into the "Other Files" folder. When trying to install/run/open the .jad file I get the "unsupported file type" error. I've typed several codes to activate Java but nothing happens. The codes I've tried are, #*5737425#, *#5282837#, *#9998*4678255#, *#9998*52824678255#, #*53696#, #*536961#, #*536962#, #*536963#, and #*536964#. How can I enable Java on this phone or how can I install the .jad and .jar files?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Well there are some files that can not support by Samsung mobile phone because these files format does not match or support with mobile phone.

    Re: Unsupported file type

Jasin, Java is obviously supported since the game trials and the browser are Java-based apps. What we are looking to do is simpy install other Java-based apps to this phone. When we attempt to run the programs to install them on the phone, they come up as "unsupported file types". Either the cellular provider or the manufacturer (Samsung) have so crippled the system that it is all but unusable. We are looking for a work around.

    Thanks, anyway.
