Does anyone know how to enable uploading ringtones to the Alias 2 (Verizon carrier). I have seen several different postings that advise to "email" the mp3 to the phone, however that is not what I am searching for. I have the USB cable and the micro SD chip. With the Motorola Razor that I had, I was able to hack the seem files and modify them to enable the transferring to the phone from the PC. It appears that it requires the same type of action to get it to work with the Alias 2. Are the ringtones mp3 or another format? Where are they stored in the phone file structure? I am unable to browse to that file via USB connection so cutting and pasting does not seem to be an option. My computer operating system is XP Pro, by the way. If someone has some brief but detailed instructions on how to do this, I think it will be helpful to many others. Thanks in advance.

I have 2 Alias 2 phones. To put on free ringtones you need a mico sd card for the phone (up to 16 g). Here are 2 easy steps to free and easy ringtones
1.
Go to Media-Convert.com where you can (for free online ) convert your MP3s to QCP, which is what the Alias 2 will recognize.
2.
Once you have converted your mp3 then open up the Alias 2 memory card and install the mp3 in the Sounds file and/or the Ringtones file.
you can go to the website phonezoo.com and after registering it will allow you to send the ringtones direct to your phone as a message or you can save the file to your computer for emailing, editing, etc.
another website is mobiles24.com - after registering they allow you to send 30 pics/snds per day to your phone.
Both these sites work well (like phone zoo better) with my verizon based alias 2 phone

drgnlvr is correct. I just used phonezoo today and got two free tones for my A2 Once I figured out(you must give them your A2'a number(duh!) and register. Service was almost instant once the registration was complete.

It is really simpler than all of those, as I discovered since my post.
Download a free QCP converter and then convert any snips of music to the .qcp format then paste them onto the ringtone folder of your Alias 2 memory card. I have two Alias 2 phones and this works easily and every time.
Does this make the ringtone sound like garbage? I've tried this a couple times and it sounds like its coming out of a tin can... its awful. Is there any way to get this to produce pre-loaded quality ringtones?
2) put the song you want for your ringtone into itunes.
3) In iTunes, go to:
preferences>advanced>importing>setting... bit rate 64kbps
4) then go to the song and right click:
get info>options>start time and end time
5) decide on where you want the song to start and stop and enter is as appropriate
6) right click>convert selection to mp3*
*if this doesn't say mp3, go to preferences>advanced>import using mp3 encoder.
7) log in to your e-mail account
8) send e-mail to: ##########@vzwpix.com (where the ########## is your cell phone number)
9) make sure to add a subject and body
10) attach your file.
11) send. when it arrives on your phone, go to the right soft key, then save as ringtone
I have this phone and had trouble getting my old ringtones. I did this and it worked without any problems. If you need to create the ringtone take your favorite song and use the site makeownringtone.com. Be sure to save it to your computer so you can upload it to itunes without any problems.
You can also transfer the sound files directly to the SD card and then from your phone access the memory settings and move them from your SD card to your phone.
I'm trying to put ringtones on my Alias 2 via the methods found here, but I have a problem. When plugged in via usb, the phone's card doesn't have a ringtone, or sound folder. It only shows Albums, Music, and Playlists folders. I already tried reformatting the card, but no such luck.
Make the ringtones through an online website like makeownringtones.com. Save them to your computer. Then go to your email account and then send the ringtones to your phones email. It will work, I did this and got the ringtones to work and sound good too. When you go to email them you have to attach the files one at a time including a subject and body. For example...
to: yourphonenumber @vzwpix.com (don't include the space)
subject: ringtone
message: ringtone
The subject line and message can be whatever words you want. I just used ring for subject and a number for the body. The number was so I kept track of which ringtone I already sent. You can put the ringtone name down instead but do whatever works for you. When you send the email it goes directly to your phone. Save the attachment of your file to your phone and you should be able to access it and put it under the ringtones sections. Hope this helps. If not I do apologize I tried to explain it the best I could.
I've tried following the steps that were mentioned in the previous posts, but I am unable to open attachments on my phone.
I tried calling Verizon about this and they simply told me that the Alias 2 was not capable of opening attachments because it's not a smart phone. I also saw that someone mentioned an option to "Save as Ringtone", but my phone doesn't have that option. Finally, I have a USB cable and a microSD card, but the only folders that are visible when I connect to my PC are "Music" and "Playlists".
If you attach the ringtone as .mp3 format in the email and send it to your phone; you should receive a multimedia type text message on your phone.
When you view the message, the song should play (if it doesn't try turning up volume).
If the song does play, that means everything up to this point is working okay.
Next you press options and say "Save...."
That should be it.
