Default Sync your Samsung Phone's Contacts/Calendar with Outlook using BitPim

BitPim can be used to sync you Samsung phone with Outlook.

First, download the latest version of BitPim here: Welcome to BitPim (try the test version if you have a newer phone)
    • Connect your phone to you computer using a USB data cable (or bluetooth) (make sure you have the proper drivers installed for you phone)
    • In BitPim go to Edit > Detect Phone - if BitPim can't detect your phone check to make sure BitPim can 'see' the phone - Select Settings and Browse to see what is showing up on the com ports - if your phone isn't showing up go to Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Ports and see if there is an error. If there is you don't have the correct drivers installed.
    • Once you get your phone detected in BitPim go to Data > Get Phone Data
    • Select the data you want to import - in this case the phonebook
    • You should see data populate the PhoneBook area
    • Go to File > Export > vCards - save the file to somewhere known (like your desktop)
    • Open outlook - go to File > Import and Export
    • Choose "Import a VCARD file (.vcf) - Click Next
    • Select the previously saved BitPim file and 'Open'
    • Your contacts should import into Outlook
A similar process can be done if you would like to sync your Calendar. Substitute vCard with vCalendar above.

You can reverse the process by swapping the import and export from each program.

If you have a new phone and want to load contacts in it from Outlook:
    • in BitPim select File > Import > Outlook Contacts / Calendar
    • Make sure to check Outlook to 'Allow' BitPim to access the data file
    • Format names if needed - confirm everything looks good
    • Data > Send Phone Data.

BitPim sounded promising initially, but apparently it does not support the Samsung R451C.

Any suggestions on a contact management utility, or a way to transfer contacts from Outlook/Outlook Express to the R451C -- without inventing application-based cold-fusion?

I've tried this program a few times and cannot get it to work with the Intensity. Perhaps someone else has. All I need to do is sync my calendar (directly with a usb, not in real time) and I'm happy with this phone.

I can't justify another $40 a month to Verizon just for that feature of a smart phone.

    HELP!

    Thanks,

    Justin
