WiFi settings for Star 5233W

Hi I just joined because I bought an unlocked Samsung Star 5233W phone and I do not know how to set its WiFi up. I have t-Mobile pay as you go. I put my sim card in and the phone works. However when I tried to use WiFi at B&N I got an authentication failed message. I do not have a data plan, but I don't think I need one to use open WiFi.
Samsung does not sell this phone in the US so I can't get it in the drop down list. The user manual is useless for this.
