Help with Samsung Kies

I cannot get Samsung Kies to work, it keeps telling me it does not work with my phone - Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate). Tried Mini Kies and it keeps freezing and I haven't been able to get that to work either. Trying to find out where the ringtones folder is on this phone so I can use something other than the horrible ringtones Samsung includes - LOL.
