My wife's phone is a Samsung Alias 2 purchased new in November 2009.
A couple months ago, the battery started losing power fast. She used to be able to go several days, maybe even a week, between charges, and the phone was now needing a charge every day, and sometimes couldn't even hold a charge for the length of a day.
So, "Battery 101," we just got a new battery.
But that battery has been little better.
So we moved on to "Battery 102" - cleaned the battery and phone contacts with a pencil eraser and with rubbing alcohol.
Basically the phone starts out fine, four "bars" of battery strength. But then after a workday - she's not on the phone a lot, maybe five brief calls and 10 texts - boom, it's dropped to about two "bars" and in the short time after that, drops even faster.
We even tried a different Samsung charger on the battery, but that wasn't the problem.
So what now? Gamble that we somehow got a bad battery and try a third one? Or is there a chance that the phone itself is abusing batteries this way? Suggestions to continue the life of this otherwise-good phone?

Welcome to CellPhoneForums.net! It's nice to have you here. If you'd like, you can post an introduction here to get to know others: New Member Introductions - Cell Phone Forums
Did you purchase a Samsung battery from an authorized retailer, or did you purchase just any battery that came up for the phone? I'd recommend getting a Samsung battery.
Have you noticed a difference with the signal in your area? If the phone is searching for service a lot, that could cause the battery to drain faster. Also, have you started using any additional features, such as bluetooth, recently? They can take up extra power also.
