Get access to text messages inbox right on the front screen?

I don't know if it's possible to do it because I haven't been able to figure it out but is there a way to get the actual inbox in one of the button options on the main screen? I've given my old Samsung phone to my folks for their use and I've texted them sometimes with important info but they just don't get how to get to the inbox to read. I know it sounds silly, but there you are.

If I could have the button go to the inbox directly, rather than the only option I could find to go to the texting general access point, that would be super grand.

Anyone? I'd like to make things easier for my folks (and my non-techie friend's cell phone turns out to be a Samsung, as well) so that with just a press of a button beneath the screen and they get right into the text messaging inbox. I just couldn't figure out how to do that.

Please advise how to do this (or, alternatively, the not-so pleasant news that it can't be done if that is the case).
