Backing up Your Samsung ATIV S Neo

A Microsoft Account is required to create a new backup file. If an account is not currently set up, the device will prompt to log in or create a new account. Tap the preferred option and follow the instructions to sign in or create an account.

In order to create a new backup file on your Samsung ATIV S Neo, you need to have a Microsoft account created. If you don’t have a Microsoft account on your smartphone, you will see a prompt asking you to create one right away -> tap the desired option and follow the on-screen prompts to sign in/create a new account.

  1. Go to the Start screen and tap the Settings tile.
  2. Or, in case the tile has been removed, swipe left -> then scroll down and tap Settings.
  3. Now tap backup.
  4. If the backup feature is enabled, your smartphone will automatically create a new backup file when you connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  5. You can select to back up the following information for your backup file:
    • Text messages
    • App lists & device settings
    • Accounts
    • To enable backups for text messages, tap text messages.
    • Photos and videos[/I]
  6. After you chose the desired backup options, change the Text message backup switch to On -> then tap the Back key.
  7. Touch photos to enable backups for photos and videos -> select the desired quality setting for Photos and Videos.
  8. When done, touch the Back key.
  9. Then touch app list + settings to enable device backups.
  10. To enable automatic backups, turn the Backup switch to On.
  11. Your Samsung ATIV S Neo is now set up to create a backup file whenever you connect to a Wi-Fi network.
  12. You can also manually create a new backup file by tapping back up now.
  13. Your smartphone is now backed up.

Performing a Master Reset via Software

A master reset should be used only as a last result method in case your smartphone is malfunctioning and all other troubleshooting steps have been exhausted, as by resetting your handset, you will lose all the data stored on it, 3rd party applications included.

Also, before performing a hard reset, it’s recommended to backup of the device information. You can use the steps above to back up your handset.

  1. Go the Start screen and touch the Settings tile.
  2. Or, in case the tile has been removed, swipe left -> scroll down and tap Settings.
  3. Then scroll down and tap about.
  4. Touch reset your phone.
  5. Read the WARNING and touch yes -> tap yes.
  6. Your Samsung ATIV S Neo will now completely reset and restart.

Performing a Factory Reset via Hardware

In case your device is so unresponsive that you cannot reset it via software, don’t worry as you can still do it using its hardware keys.

  1. Turn off your Samsung ATIV S Neo. To turn the device off completely, remove and reinsert the battery.
  2. Then press and hold the Volume Down key.
  3. With the Volume Down key pressed down, press and hold the Power key.
  4. As soon as the Windows Phone logo appears, release just the Power key.
  5. When the exclamation mark appears, you can release the Volume Down key as well.
  6. Then quickly press the following keys, in order: Volume Up, Volume Down, Power, and Volume Down.
  7. Once the Windows Phone logo appears, your Samsung ATIV S Neo will display two turning gears as it resets.
  8. Your smartphone is now reset.
