Help with my new Note 5

Hello, I seem to have several time consuming problems with my new phone and would appreciate any advice/help from any of you wonderful people out there. Right now I need to know why my email (outlook.com) is not syncing with my phone. It says it last synced on March 7, 2016. I have checked the settings and sync setting several times and from what I know, it all appears to be set OK. I think I have numerous programs on both my Dell windows 7 laptop and my Note 5. Like dropbox, onedrive, onenote, sidesync, onesync, etc. Should I basically be using just one of these and omit all of the others? If so, can you recommend which one might be best to use? Forever I could not figure out how to be able to open my email on my phone and be able to also open any of my folders in my email acct. Still not sure if I can because my email on my phone says there is not even any messages and that is not right cuz on my computer, my outlook.com email has plenty of email messages.

It has auto sync, in fact, they usually pop in on my phone before they do on my PC. In the email settings you need to select the account you have synced and then under "Sync Schedule" you have the options to select "Auto (when received)", Manual, or at different time intervals.
