what other features does the v200 flash add to the v205 other than camera zoom?

why did samsung make the v205 when the v200 has more features?

well, i think the v205 is normally the same as v200, except that that it was made for a different country... maybe there is just an old firmware on it...

v205 was originally meant for US. New firmware enables new features, like caller name in outer screen, better sound clarity and sometimes bad things, like lesser screen brightness. Firmware E5 en F3 or known to be very good. The newest is G1, but some people have trouble with WAP/GPRS. I use it without any problem.

I'm using the G1 firmware, it's fine but the screen intensity isn't goot. Becouse at -66 it's like the normal 10 on any other fimware. It's kinda weid. Could it be the firmware, or did i do something wrong? I only can change the intensity with the code *#9998*LCD#.

I recently flashed my phone with the v200 F3 firmware. I like the features such as being able to upload rings to the phone from the pc and download pics from the phone to the pc using a data cable. This way you don't have to use picture messaging. Also, you are able to use a zoom feature on the camera.

From what I understand the V205 is the V200 modified for T-Mobile in the US. They disable some features so you have to use the network features. It is also locked to T-Mobile's network, if you flash it to a V200, you unlock it to use any network, (as long as you have a sim card for that network).

I forgot to mention that flashing it does remove the phonebook shortcut (when you press the down arrow). Also, I miss the T-Mobile startup and shutdown animations, they are now butterflies flying around....

this is what i noticed when flashing a v205 to a v200 with G1 firmware

    pros:
    - t-mo, time and date can be turned off now
    - zoom features with camera
    - new menu icon/animations
    - different startup and shutdown animations (better than t-mo)
    - wap settings no longer hidden (allows csd web access, aka free t-zones)
    - phone is unlocked, allows use on other gsm networks, provided you have the sim
    - more language selections

    cons:
    - phonebook shortcut is gone

the original t-mo firmware is, of course, locked/branded for use with t-mo only. flashing allows you to use other gsm network providers, i.e. at&t and cingular. v200 firmwares usually have more/better features than what t-mo "allowed" us to have. the only good thing about the t-mo firmware is that you have phonebook shortcut. but one more button to push for phonebook is better when i can remove time and date, camera zoom and free t-zones, etc. you get the idea.
