does anyone know the maximum size a gif file can be for the wallpaper on a v200

128x128 pixels I guess. The size in KB depends on available memory in your phone.

You are limited to 30 kb for a GIF animation with a v200, much bigger and you get a fail to send message.

Actually it is 32KB, @ 128x128.
What happens if you make it at 160x128, max is it would resize the whole animation right?

it would probably cut off the top and bottom part of the pic. the actual screen is 160 x 128 but the top and bottom bar takes up 32 pixels. 32kb or 30kb, i never hit that limit so i never have to worry about it. the smaller the pic size for me, the more i can fit on my phone.

v200 LCD screen size is 128x160.
take away the top signal + battery bar and bottom menu soft key, u are left with 128x128.
Samsung phones are not that intelligent. if u use a 128x160, the phone will cover the top and bottom with signal bar and soft menu
