just what exactly is the point in buying the 30$ data cable for the sanyo scp-8100 if you have to pay an additional 30$ dollar fee JUST for a stupid, tiny software package/driver. i was under the impression that with the cable i could simply plug in my phone, upload my pics and download things off my pc. somebody care to explain?

    another concern as well...

the 8100 is overall a mediocre phone, however, the storage space is infinitesmal. it only holds like 8 PICTURES!!! wtf... anybody know if there is some type of "modification" for the phone to increase memory or do all scp owners have to be handicapped by this pitiful size allotment.

all things considered.. i think trashing 60 bucks JUST for a cable for a phone that no matter what, will hold only 8 images at a time is somewhat absurd. therefore i was wondering, should i hold off a little until a new phone comes out with better specs? moreso, when will this next gen. phone be coming out???

whoever takes the time to answer my lengthy questions.. i thank you in advance

only 8???? damn i was considering buying this phone but not anymore. so theres no way around the 8 ringer limit, no matter what their size?

edit: i just checked with my friend she said she had like 441kb free on her phone when she looked under downloads. she should be able to hold like 75-90 ringers! so i guess it has something to do with snapmedia. but what can u do, they're a monopoly

You can get the USB data cable for Sanyo phones for about $10 on ebay now. And install the free Sanyo drivers so your PC will recognize it. I access the net @ 115k on my laptop using my phone with the data cable.

could anyone tell me if the pm-8200(or 8100) data cable is capable of UPLOADING pictures to the computer? i really dont want to pay for an extra service just to be able to save my pics. what a scam if it wont allow you to store them without paying.

You should be able to upload from your phone to PC via data cable by using BitPim software, its free and you can get it here http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/
