Has anyone tried use the jack under the battery on the Sanyo 8100??? I have an antenna and an adapter that fits the plug, but when I take out the battery to try it the phone will not turn on even when plugged into the wall via the cord that fits into the bottom.
Is there anyway to utilize this jack with the phone on? Who designed this thing???

Your problem is, thats not the antenna jack.. Its on the back top of the phone, plugs into part of the regular one. So, if you have a plug that fits the one under the battery you have the wrong one.

Good luck though, I got an external and plugged it in. My signal goes from whatever I had to a big fat ZERO.. I have no clue why. Let me know if you get one that works please.

Thanks, I did figure that out shortly after posting that message, and the antenna I bought is the Wilson Dual Band Magnetic Mount Antenna Kit which you can find here for $45:

I went from 0-1 bars to a reliable 3-4 using the antenna, haven't had a single dropped call since I got it.
