OK, I've had this phone for about a year and it is indeed an incredible phone. It has so many features, excellent battery life, great sound, and of course camera/camcorder capabilities...well, that is, except for my 8300. I have been having this problem of when I try to use the camera/camcorder it blinks to the loading screen for a milisecond then returns to the menu and ignores me. However, when I press down on the button the screen turns black for about 5 seconds and then returns to the menu, but not before displaying a "looking for service..." and "Entering Sprint service area..." message. So I'm bummed because I have no camera. I know it's not necessary but it makes my phone lesser. This is really the only problem I've had. It could very well be from dropping it a few times...perhaps I need a new body for the phone, but I'm seeking help from anyone who has had this problem or a problem similar to it before I take it into the yes-men who will say I need to spend $1000 on something to fix it....you know how they are. If worst comes to worst..I'll just get a new one, but I'd really like your input on this because I'm quite curious if anyone else has had this phone concussion symptom, if you will, and I want to know if anyone has a quick fix on it. Thanks a million!

Im not sure about a fix for your particular problem. But I can say, Iv had my 8300 for almost a year now and iv dropped it plenty of times (some iv accidently threw towards the ground) and everything still works for me. I have encountered a similar problem to yours when i tried to call out and got the entering service sign and the call would never be made (even though I was in an area with full service). All I had to do was shut the phone off for like 30 mins then turn it back on and everything worked fine.

Hmm....that's interesting. I guess when I dropped it, it just hit it in the right place to screw up the camera. I do keep my phone on just about always though so I'll see if giving it a rest helps. Thanks for the reply!

    Re: Sanyo MM-8300 Camera/Camcorder PROBLEMS

The only problem I have had like that is, when I'm outside and talking on the phone, my call gets dropped but my service bar stays full the whole time. Kind of trips me out how it would do that to me. Also I have learned my lesson on punting my phone when I get mad. So I just hope my 8300 treats me as good as I treat it. I've only had mine for a few days now, but I have in the past owned the 8100 and the 8200 and have been completely satisfied with them all.

Stupid question: did you try taking the battery out and putting it back in?

If so, take it to a Sprint store...have 'em check it out...don't tell them you dropped it.

Did you purchase the lockline option?

Guess what!!! I haven't had my phone for a year and mine is doing the same thing. I talked with sprint and they said it sounds like an internal thing and that I would have to call sanyo. It may be a default. I had the 8200 a red one. that one was really popular. I had to return that one because my charger wouldn't charge the phone. Sprint gave me another one for free but I ended up with a silver one. The 8300 that I have now is blue. Good luck and let me know what happens with you.
