Can I use Sanyo Katana with Verizon??

I have a sanyo katana from sprint but recently got a new phone. I would like to give the katana to my father who uses verizon. Would he be able to use this phone? Do I have to unlock it? Thanks in advance.

no you cannot because verizon is a cdma ntwork and the katana is made for gsm and pcs networks even if it is unlocked it won't work.

Correct. Handset sharing amond CDMA carriers isn't allowed at this time. However, there is current legislation to make any handset work with any carrier. I'd love to have a Verizon iPhone.
