If there was, then surely it would still be found online, somewhere.
This phone is, at best, 6-8 months old at the time of this posting (from what I can gather). It was unveiled earlier this year in the Spring at CTIA by Sanyo and Sprint. So this isn't some dated phone. This is pretty current. I just find it appalling that they are selling data cables for upwards of $20 for this thing when, at best, it is only good for charging your phone at the computer. And, even on the Sprint website as an accessory for this phone, it is being marketed as a data/power cable. At that point, you may as well save the money on the cable and use your wall charger.
I am just trying to figure out who to contact about my distaste for this. I am considering (another) a call to Sprint. If this had been explained to me at the point of sale, I would have gone with another phone that DOES have data-to-PC capability.
As always, I am open to being proven wrong. My goal is not to bash Sprint or Sanyo. I just want my phone to operate as expected. | | Did you find this post helpful?

Dear xxxxx xxxxx,
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand that you want to transfer
your contacts and Pictures.
Unfortunately, we do not provide any software to transfer the pictures
from your phone to PC without Picture mail pack. You need to add Picture
mail pack for $5.00 to transfer the picture.
You can not transfer your contacts from your phone to PC. We do offer a
service (Wireless Backup) that allows customers to store contact
information on a server, which can automatically be restored to their
phone, or to a new phone if the old one is damaged, lost, stolen or
being upgraded.
The monthly charge for this will be $2.00.
To subscribe to Wireless Backup from a phone, please follow the steps
given below:
- Select Menu from the main screen.
- Scroll down to Contacts or Settings, press OK.
- Scroll down till you see the Wireless Backup option, press OK.
- Select option to subscribe to Wireless Backup, press OK.
- You will receive a confirmation window with the message, Connect to
Vision to check your Wireless Backup subscription status. Select Yes,
then press OK.
- You will see the message, Wireless Backup is not active on your phone.
Learn More? - Select Yes, then press OK. If the customer chooses not to
purchase at this time, they can cancel.
- Select Wireless Backup purchase? Select Buy and press OK.
Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.
Sincerely,
Jory S.

It comes with a driver. | It is the Sprint SmartView software.. which still doesn't give you the option of transferring pictures and phonebook data to your PC. I spent a good bit of time going over it, myself, and if the option to transfer phone data to the PC is there, I have been unable to find it.
I've spoken to Sprint, directly, and they've confirmed that you can not transfer pics and other data from the Katana LX to your PC without paying their internet and data usage charges. | | Did you find this post helpful?

#13 | | Junior Member | I'm sorry. I need to correct myself. It was BitPim that doesn't support the Katana LX. As for DataPilot, they list it on their site and say that it allows you to read/write to the address book and read images from the phone. But that's all. Still, that's what I am looking to do. I will try it out.
As for getting Ringtones on the Katana, I believe you have to go to your Content Manager on Sprint.com. You can't transfer the ringers from your PC to the phone with a data cable... not on the LX, anyway. You look like you have a pic of the Katana 2. No idea if that works the same way.
