My son just got a new phone, the ZTE GRAND (there's an X at the end, so not sure if that means its a ZTE GRAND X?) He's only had it for a week & a half, the provider is Cricket.
Anyways, we were watching videos on his facebook page on street racing. Then all the sudden it had this HUGE warning thing on the screen. It says "ATTENTION!! Your device has been blocked up for safety reasons listed below. All actions performed on this device are fixed. You are accused of viewing & storage of forbidden & illegal content. You are accused of commuting the crime envisaged by Article 161 of the U.S.A criminal law. Article 161 of U.S.A criminal law provides for the punishment of deprivation of liberty for terms from 5 to 11 years. Please, mind that both your personal identified, & criminal case can be opened against you in course of 96 hours as of commission of crimes per above Articles. Criminal case can be submitted to court. The penalty set MUST be paid in course of 24 hours as of the breach. On expiration of the term, 24 hours that follow will be used for automatic collection of data on yourself & your misconduct, & criminal case will be opened against you. Amount of fine is 300$. You can settle the fine with MoneyPak vouchers. As soon as the money arrives to the treasury account, your Mobile Device will be unlocked & ALL information will be decrypted in course of 24 hours.
I'm not sure what this is, I'm thinking its a scam. The way that some of the wording is very strange. But his phone is completely locked up. We've tried turning it off & on again, even took battery out & restarting it. I was hoping that someone might know what this is & if there's anyway to fix it without having to send $ to some random "scam" thing. Any ideas & suggestions will be greatly appriciated.

    Re: Help!!!!

The United States government does not number laws as such. A United States law would list "xxx USC yyy" as the law violated. The United States government does not hold computers or mobile devices for ransom. If you are charged with a crime, you would be formally notified at an appearance in court. There would be no fines until convicted in court or you entered a guilty plea in court. Resetting the telephone should clear any persistent cookies downloaded to the telephone from that website.
