Some excellent work has been done on the HTC all in one unlocker tool over at XDA, and it now supports the SX66

Today I sucessfully unlocked my Siemens SX-66. program is really quick and easy too.

    Using Extended ROM 1.40.124

Thanks for the heads up Brian. I just got a unit off EBay and ran the program no problem.

I even managed to find most of the pesky Cingular (no offense) logos and remove them, but I can't seem to find the Start-up (from reset) one. Any idea of the filename?

Someone at XDA made an MDA III Boot screen changer. Basically it's a PC program that you convert jpegs to Splash1.nb and Splash2.nb (The two booting screens), and then you xfer them to your PPC. On the PPC you run another program that actually forces it into memory. Best Part: the images stay even after Hard Reset

    Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/view...mda+boot+image

And I think the program is on page 3? You should be able to find it there or on XDA's FTP site. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Let me know if you can't find the files... I MIGHT still have them on a CD somewhere.

I couldn't help you at all because I'm not familiar with that model. I'm only familiar with the Blue Angel (SX66)

Nope. The SX66 is a GSM Phone only. It will only work on GSM Systems (Cingular, T-Mobile in the US).

just treat my my a complete newbie at this.

i have the file. i have the sync up and running..

where do i copy the file to, and how to do i run it.

what do i do after that and so on..
    ----

so this is the scoop. i just got my Siemens SX66 in the mail. its branded Cingular, i have a ATT sim card from my Motorola V600.

i could go down and have them make it work for me. but i am interested in making it work myself.
    ------

when i put my sim in the Siemens, it has a sim lock code thing.
    ---

will unlocking it make it work?

Copy it anywhere on the Phone (just make sure you know where it is) I recommend either 'Storage' or 'My Documents'.

On the Phone, open up file manager (I think that's what it's called). Double click the file. It should do it's thing. It may give you a message, click OK. Now navigate to the base directory (up all the way) and click on 'xdadev_all_unlock.log' It should show somewhere where new SIMLock is a bunch of zeros. Then it should work! (I'd also recommend a soft reset, just put the stylus in the hold on the bottom).
