Nah, they want to unlock the phone's subsidy lock so the phone can be used with a different GSM provider. I suggest calling your provider, and tell them you need to travel overseas and would like to use a local european SIM in your current phone. This is usually a good enough excuse for them to provide you with the unlock code, or at least it works for Cingular
