    Hi

Theres no suggestion forum, so Im posting it here.
Why dont we have a section in this forum for programming - like J2ME, Symbian, Brew etc so that we can have threads on development related issues for cellphones ?

    Thanks

Hrm, I haven't seen much interest in the actual programming of phones, but I think it's a great idea.

Do you know any of these languages? I wouldn't mind learning more about J2ME

Not really - started out with J2ME, just not into writing full blown apps yet. But its the easiest to start with as anyone with Java background can easuily get the hang of it.

Symbian C++ has a major learning curve from any other language.
Python itself has a very small community, Python for S60 is pretty much very few in number.
    Flash Lite anyone ?

Nokia has an excellent set of tools for developers.

I didn't even know you could program phones like that. What types of things can you add to a phone?

Are all phones succeptible to having 3rd party applications installed on it?

I wouldn't mind seeing a Series 60 subforum since it is a totally different platform than series 40.

Not really john, series 40 uses a simpler operating system than the higher end Series 60, 80 and 90 (which are based on the multitasking Symbian OS). S40 devices differ from the Symbian-based platforms in that they do not support true multi-tasking and do not have a native code API for third parties and thus do not support installable applications other than MIDlets that are written in Java. It is primarily because of the former that Series 40 user interface appears to be more responsive and faster than other Nokia platforms, but much slower at running third party applications.

    Re: Developer sub forum

Now that Android is out, its another reason to have a developer's subforum.
