My current phone is a sanyo silverlicious and I have had it for 4 years. It's almost still going strong but doesn't get reception and the screen is buggering up. So I'm in the market for a new phone and need advice from someone with a broad knowledge of suitable handsets.

-I'm quite keen on qwerty keys, not to fussed if its touch screen or keypad.
-Thinking something with android to keep up with the times.
-I appreciate a nice, well designed interface that doesn't lag.
-Camera is not a biggy for me but anything would be an upgrade from my current piece.
-Battery should last the day.
-I've got an iPod so music player means nothing to me.
-Starting uni this year so can't be to expensive.

So please hit me with some knowledge and general suggestions or things I haven't thought of or don't know exist.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS I'm from NZ but brother in law is bringing my choice over from Saudi so will be much cheaper than here.
