Mp3 editing for ringtone

I was wondering if there wasa good peice of software out there to edit the length of mp3 files to use them as ringtones? so that the file sizes are smaller

Mp3 trim

I use mp3 trim pretty cool just remember to use save as feature instead of save because it will rewrite original mp3 i use it for my z500a and it works great i trim them to about 30 seconds each i have about 5 on there so far.... here is the website by the way

I use WavePad Sound Editor. It's free, it's easy and it does neat stuff like fade-ins/outs, amplify quiet sections, and cut copy and paste sections or the entire file to another. Also if you find a neat sound in a non-mp3 format (e.g. .wav) you can save it as mp3 with bit rate control. i'm still learning it.

I use Nerowave editor, and it works fairly well. There are some other programs out there that will make better cuts, but they obviously cost more.

Most music downloading software gives you control of file size depending on the quality you desire. Obviously for a cell phone you won't need "cd" quality file samples. In a few test cases I have done I found very little to no difference in "quality of sound" between highest and lowest sampling rates from my cell's teeny-weeny little speaker (if it indeed IS a speaker). Sound editing software also gives you this file control capability and for ringtones I find that free software such as the one I mentioned previously is sufficient for "ringtones".

I use Audacity, it's free, pretty simple to use, and has multiple functions with it.

You can get it here:
