Found a sony ericsson!! need to know how to use it

i found a sony ericsson s700i from the place i work, i believe its from japan because the letters in the key pad is in japanese. i love the phone but when i put in my sim card, it says "inactive sim" what do i do now to use it?? how much will it cost to make it work in canada??

Unlock it. You can get a Terminator Dongle on Ebay and do it yourself, or get someone to do it for you, there are stores online.
