Bought "Made in China" cable on ebay. Installed using enclosed CD and installation was supposedly completed. Device Manager under USB shows "unknown device". Under "Ports" there is a comport 4 listing, but can't tell if it is pertains to the cable. Read through other postings, but all seem to pertain to problems after a successful installation of the cable. Any idea why the cable is not being recognized?

Sounds like a Windows issue, consider uninstalling the unknown device, and unisntall any related drivers, and try reinstalling. I know i had an issue similar to this when i was messing with the drivers when i had a V600.

    dcu-11 way to set up

Make sure that you have drivers for the USB cable. Download the latest versions from the DCU-10/DCU-11 support site at www.SonyEricsson.com/support. If you have any Sony Ericsson software that you plan to use with the USB cable, install this software before proceeding.

    To install the USB cable:
    1. Do not connect the phone to the cable yet. If available, insert the CD that came with your cable or with your phone.

    2. Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your PC. With the CD inserted, the installation should go automatically without any information on the screen.

    3. Without CD inserted, choose INSTALL FROM LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION, then click NEXT. Choose DON' SEARCH, I WILL CHOOSE DRIVER TO INSTALL, then click NEXT.

    4. Click HAVE DISK and then BROWSE. Select the driver on the CD or a downloaded driver at another location. Click OPEN and then OK.

    5. Select USB CABLE DCU-11 in the models list and click NEXT. Click FINISH in the final wizard window.

To check the USB cable installation:
    1. Select START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER. Find the USB cable under PORTS. Make a note of the cable's COM port number.

    2. Exit to CONTROL PANEL window and double click PHONE MONITOR OPTIONS. Select COM PORTS tab and enable the COM port installed for the USB cable. Click OK.

NOTE: You must have a Sony Ericsson PC software installed to use Phone Monitor Options.

To check the COM Port speed in PC:
    1. Select START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL 2. Select SYSTEM > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER 3. In the list, expand PORTS (make a note of the port DCU-11 uses).
    4. Highlight DCU-11, right-click, and select PROPERTIES 5. Select PORT SETTINGS tab, set the desired speed to 115200 bps.
