I've read elswhere that Rogers blocks that feature in their phones for some reason.

Re: w300i ring tone question

You need to update/unbrand firmware

But this will void your warranty for the phone
find the nearest dealer to help you.

You can transfer the mp3 files to your phone via USB Cable. But you will still not able to set them as ringtones. You need to convert the mp3 files. Find out what type of sound file that your phone supports. Google it.

yes it is true rogers has block those ring tone feature, but if you decided uprade your firmware then you will be able to use mp3 as a ringtone, you will void your warranty , most dealers are offering this service unbranding firmware not ony for w300i but also for other motorola samsung
and lg also.

Re: w300i ring tone question

if you're under a hefty 2 year committed plan, i wouldnt recommend flashing firmwares.

wait at least half a year, or until you know for sure you're going to get a new phone soon or later

the reason they block the feature to use mp3's as ringtones, is to promote sales of ringtones on the web browser of the phones and wallpapers, themes and all that jazz
