Sony P900 Virtual Keyboard Not Working

Hey y'all, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've got a P900 and whenever I tap the virtual keyboard icon at the bottom right of the screen to type text in nothing happens. This is the same for text messages, calendar, internet, whatever. What can I do to remedy this?

Take out the battery and leave off for at least 5 min...
Do a hard reset...
Update the firmware through SE' Update Service (check the website)...
Flash the phone's firmware...

If those don't work, you know that it's a hardware issue. So...

Replace the screen with a new one...
Bring it to a cell phone repair center...

Deal with the hassle of trying to fix it or just buy another P900. Either that or upgrade to a newer model.

Thanks for the advice...somehow it randomly started working again after typing a SMS message for a while...wierd. I don't think i'll be using it often but in case I do...

If it starts to happen more frequently and you need to replace the screen, you can check out online vendors like CNN.CN or Gsm4World. If not, ty eBay.
