    Just noticed something VERY strange!

A few days ago, after putting my locked W580 back into my horizontal hip case with a magnetic flip cover, my cell phone would call someone...??

I coudn't understand how my phone could automatically call someone while locked....

Just now, as I was putting my phone back into it's case, I noticed that the lights would come on...

Strange I though so I pulled it out right away and noticed that it was in the proces of locking itself again.

I then placed the phone on top of the magnets and the phone automatically UNLOCKED itself!

As soon as I take it away from the magnets, it automatically LOCKS....

That's why my phone kept calling people by its self... As soon as I placed the phone in the case, it would unlock and pressure would be put on the call buttons and it would then make the call!

Anyone else have this problem? I guess I could just get a new case but I really like the case I have...

I did go swimming with my phone back in the summer... Dryed it out and works like a charm! Don't think that has anything to do with it but I thought I would mention it.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks,

    See More: SE W580i

Generally magnets + Electronics = Bad idea.
That's just a good rule of thumb.

I have the same problem and was about to make a similar thread before seeing this one. So will the magnet damage the phone in any way, or will it just mess with the lock function?

I use a horizontal hip case with a magnetic flip cover with my Treo 755P and no such issues.

Just place the phone in the case with the screen opposite from the magnet clip.

    Re: SE W580i

I would think its the case's problem.
Or maybe the phone has a ghost..... jk.

Try a day without the case, probably wont happen.

I have a 580 too and when I'm doing the dishes sometimes somebody pops up on speakerphone and scares the crap out of me.
I guess I acidentally press it or something, I dont have a case.
    I find it funny though.

I agree. Some harddrives can be formated using a magnet, and maybe that goes for some components in the phone as well?!?!
    Be carefull
