Comparing the huge Sony Xperia Z Ultra with an iPhone is like comparing apples and oranges. As such, transferring contacts from an iPhone to the Ultra might seem like a difficult task, but in reality, that's not nearly the case. Following one of the four methods below, you can transfer contacts from your iPhone to the Ultra with ease.

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

NOTE: if you've previously enabled the iCloud service on your iPhone, then chances are that your contacts have already been backed up to your iCloud account. As such, you can use the service to export the contacts to your Z Ultra.

  1. On your computer's Internet browser, visit www.icloud.com and log in with your iCloud account
  2. Click "Contacts"
  3. In the contacts list, select the ones that you wish to export
  4. Click the "Settings" icon located at the bottom-left corner
  5. Select "Export vCard"
  6. After your computer downloads the VCF file containing the contacts, you can import the VCF file to "Google Contacts"
  7. Alternatively, you can connect your Xperia Z Ultra to your computer, copy the VCF file into the "/sdcard" directory and then open the "Contacts" / "People" app, tap "Menu" > "Import contacts" > "SD card" > select where to store the contacts > select the VCF (vCard) file / contacts that you wish to import

Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

  1. Open iTunes on your computer
  2. Connect your iPhone to your computer, and click on the device once it appears in iTunes
  3. Access the "Info" tab
  4. Click the "Sync Contacts With" check mark, and select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down list
  5. Enter your Google account log in information. Alternatively, if you've previously set a Google account, you can click "Configure" and select the desired account
  6. Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to finish the syncing process
  7. On your Sony Xperia Z Ultra, register with the same Google account. If necessary, you can add the account by accessing the "Settings" menu > "Accounts"
  8. Allow the Google account to sync the contacts with your Z Ultra

Using "My Contacts Backup" Application to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

If you wish to transfer contacts from an iPhone to the Xperia Z Ultra without accessing a computer, then you can use the My Contacts Backup app in order to do so.

  1. On your iPhone, go to the App store and download "My Contacts Backup"
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup"
  3. After the backup is complete, tap "Email". This will attach a VCF file to an email
  4. Use your own Gmail account as the recipient for the email and send it
  5. On your Xperia Z Ultra, open the email containing the VCF file attachment, and download it to import the contacts to your device

Using the "Bump" Application to Transfer Contacts from an iPhone:

NOTE: Bump allows you to send contacts from an iPhone to the Xperia Z Ultra using cloud computing. As such, in order to perform these steps, you will need an active Internet connection on both smartphones.

  1. Install Bump on your iPhone by downloading it from the App Store
