Enabling Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen
- Open "Settings"
- Tap "Power management" under "Device"
- Tap the switches associated with "STAMINA mode", "Low battery mode" and "Location-based Wi-Fi" to turn them "OFF"
Changing the Battery Saving Mode Settings:
- Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
- Scroll to "Device" and tap "Power management"
- Perform one or more of the following sets of steps:
- To edit STAMINA mode:
- Tap "STAMINA mode"
- Make sure STAMINA mode is enabled
- Tap "Activation"
- Drag the "Battery level" slider to adjust the battery percentage at which STAMINA mode activates itself
- Tap "OK"
- Optionally, add or remove applications from the "Apps active in standby" list
- To Edit Low Battery Mode:
- Tap "Low battery mode"
- Enable the feature and edit the "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" settings as desired
- Enable or disable features such as "GPS", "Vibrate on touch off" etc.
- To edit STAMINA mode:
Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the "Settings" menu
- Scroll down to "Device" and tap "Display"
- Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box, if necessary
- Drag the "Brightness" slider to a lower level and tap "OK"
- Tap "Sleep" and set a lower value, such as "15 seconds"
Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:
- While viewing the home screen, drag the "Notification" bar down
- Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" to turn off these features
- Press the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
- Scroll down to "Wireless & Networks" and press "More"
- Tap "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot" and clear the check box associated with "Mobile Hotspot"
Reducing the Auto-Sync Settings for Applications:
- Tap the "All apps" icon from the home screen
- Tap "Settings" and scroll down to "Accounts"
- Select the type of account that you want to edit
- Select your account name if necessary
- Clear the check boxes associated with as many applications
Disabling Background Data:
- Go to the "Settings" menu
- Scroll to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "Data usage"
- Press the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner
- Mark the "Restrict background data" check box
Minimizing the Use of Third Party Applications:
- Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen and go to "Settings"
- Tap "Apps" under "Device"
- Swipe the screen to access the "Downloaded" section
- Select the desired application and choose to "Disable" or "Uninstall" it
- Tap "OK" to confirm
Updating to the Latest Available Software Version:
NOTE: the following steps can increase battery life on your device only if Sony has launched a software update that deals with potential battery life issues on your phone. If no software update is available, then this will give no results.
- Tap the "All apps" icon from the home screen
- Open "Settings"
- Scroll down to "System"
- Tap "About phone" > "Software update"
- If an update is available, follow any additional on-screen prompts to download and apply it on your device
