Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Open "Settings"
  3. Tap "Power management" under "Device"
  4. Tap the switches associated with "STAMINA mode", "Low battery mode" and "Location-based Wi-Fi" to turn them "OFF"

Changing the Battery Saving Mode Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Power management"
  3. Perform one or more of the following sets of steps:
    • To edit STAMINA mode:
      1. Tap "STAMINA mode"
      2. Make sure STAMINA mode is enabled
      3. Tap "Activation"
      4. Drag the "Battery level" slider to adjust the battery percentage at which STAMINA mode activates itself
      5. Tap "OK"
      6. Optionally, add or remove applications from the "Apps active in standby" list
    • To Edit Low Battery Mode:
      1. Tap "Low battery mode"
      2. Enable the feature and edit the "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" settings as desired
      3. Enable or disable features such as "GPS", "Vibrate on touch off" etc.

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu
  2. Scroll down to "Device" and tap "Display"
  3. Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box, if necessary
  4. Drag the "Brightness" slider to a lower level and tap "OK"
  5. Tap "Sleep" and set a lower value, such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:

  1. While viewing the home screen, drag the "Notification" bar down
  2. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" to turn off these features
  3. Press the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
  4. Scroll down to "Wireless & Networks" and press "More"
  5. Tap "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot" and clear the check box associated with "Mobile Hotspot"

Reducing the Auto-Sync Settings for Applications:

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" and scroll down to "Accounts"
  3. Select the type of account that you want to edit
  4. Select your account name if necessary
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with as many applications

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu
  2. Scroll to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "Data usage"
  3. Press the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Applications:

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon located on the home screen and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Apps" under "Device"
  3. Swipe the screen to access the "Downloaded" section
  4. Select the desired application and choose to "Disable" or "Uninstall" it
  5. Tap "OK" to confirm

Updating to the Latest Available Software Version:

NOTE: the following steps can increase battery life on your device only if Sony has launched a software update that deals with potential battery life issues on your phone. If no software update is available, then this will give no results.

  1. Tap the "All apps" icon from the home screen
  2. Open "Settings"
  3. Scroll down to "System"
  4. Tap "About phone" > "Software update"
  5. If an update is available, follow any additional on-screen prompts to download and apply it on your device
