Enabling and Managing Battery Saving Mode:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Power management"
  4. Tap the "STAMINA mode" ON / OFF switch and set it to "ON"
  5. Tap the switches associated with "Low battery mode" set it to "ON"
    • To edit how "STAMINA mode" works:
      1. Tap "STAMINA mode"
      2. Make sure the feature is enabled
      3. Tap "Activation"
      4. Drag the "Battery level" slider and set the desired battery percentage at which STAMINA mode becomes active
      5. Tap "OK"
      6. Optionally, add or remove applications from the "Apps Active in Standby" list
    • To edit "Low battery mode":
      1. Tap "Low battery mode" and make sure the feature is "ON"
      2. Edit the settings associated with "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" as you see fit
      3. Mark or clear the check boxes next to "GPS off", "Bluetooth off" and other features from the list

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Decreasing the Timeout Duration:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Display"
  4. Tap "Brightness"
  5. Clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box
  6. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left, and set it to a lower level
  7. Tap "OK"
  8. Touch "Sleep" and set the timeout to "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

It's highly recommended that you disable all connectivity features when they're not in use, especially GPS and Bluetooth. To do so:

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down
  2. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" to disable Wi-Fi, BT and GPS
  3. Tap the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner
  4. Under "Wireless & Networks" tap "More"
  5. Tap "Tethering and Mobile HotSpot"
  6. Clear the check box associated with "Mobile HotSpot"

Adjusting the Auto-Sync Settings for Applications:

  1. Tap the "Applications" icon while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Accounts", choose the type of account that you want to edit
  4. Select your account's name if necessary
  5. Clear the desired check boxes in order to reduce auto-sync

Disabling Background Data:

  1. From the "Applications" menu, tap "Settings"
  2. Tap "Data usage" under "Wireless & Networks"
  3. Touch the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner of the screen
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

  1. From any home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Apps"
  4. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  5. Choose an application and tap "Disable" or "Uninstall"
  6. Tap "OK" to confirm

Switching from 4G to WCDMA:

  1. Tap the "Applications" icon while on the home screen
  2. Go to the "Settings" menu
  3. Tap "More" under "Wireless & Networks"
  4. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
  5. Select "WCDMA"

Updating Your Smartphone to the Latest Available Software Version:

NOTE: the steps below can positively affect your phone's battery life only if Sony has launched a new update that deals with potential battery issues, or makes improvements to the Sony Xperia Z2 power management. If no update is available, performing the steps below will have no effect whatsoever.

  1. From the home screen, tap "Applications"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "System" and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "Software update"
  5. If a new software version is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your Xperia Z2
