WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will return every setting to factory values, and it will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory. As such, it's highly recommended that you backup your images, apps, custom ringtones, contacts and downloaded content before proceeding. Keep in mind that the data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by a factory reset

NOTE: you can follow this link for a full guide on how to back up and restore data on the Xperia T3.

Master Resetting via the Settings Menu:

    1. Tap the "Apps" icon while viewing a home screen
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Under "Personal", tap "Back up & reset"
    4. Clear the check box associated with "Automatic restore"
    5. Under "Personal data", tap "Factory data reset"
    6. Tap "Reset phone". If your device is protected by a screen lock, you'll need to enter the PIN or password before tapping "Continue"
    7. Tap "Erase everything" to confirm

    Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

IMPORTANT: The Sony Xperia T3 cannot be factory reset using the hardware keys, but if your smartphone is frozen, unresponsive, it won't turn on or is simply preventing you from resetting it via the settings menu (as explained above), then you can perform the steps below to try and fix these issues:

    1. Press and hold the "Volume Up" and "Power" buttons at the same time
    2. Wait for about 10 seconds in order for your smartphone to vibrate three times
    3. Once the smartphone has vibrated a third time, release the hardware keys
    4. Try to power up your smartphone and see if the issues have been solved

Reloading the Smartphone's Software via the Sony PC Companion Tool:

NOTE: if you are unable to reset your smartphone due to a forgotten password, then you can reload the software by following the steps below.

    1. Using your computer's Internet browser, visit Download for PC - Sony Smartphones (Global UK English)
    2. Download the Companion tool and follow the on-screen steps to install it on your PC
    3. Once installed, launch the PC Companion tool on your computer
    4. Under "Support Zone", click "Start". (NOTE: if this is the first time using "Support Zone", it may take a while for the system to load
    5. Under "Phone / Tablet Software Update", click "Start"
    6. Click "Repair my phone / tablet"
    7. From the list of devices, select the Sony Xperia T3. If the handset is missing, click "Another phone / tablet"
    8. Review the information and then click "Next" > "Continue"
    9. Your computer will now download the required software / update
    10. If necessary, select your smartphone from the list
    11. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Xperia T3 to your computer. IMPORTANT: before connecting the Xperia T3 to the computer, ensure that the smartphone is turned off, and that the "Volume Down" button is held pressed
    12. After the reload process starts, release the "Volume down" key
    13. Wait for the PC Companion tool to apply the software on your smartphone. NOTE: depending on your internet connection and various other aspects, this step can take up to 30 minutes or more
