Transferring Contacts via iTunes:

Using iTunes one can transfer the contacts stored on an iPhone to an Android smartphone, by first syncing the contacts with a Google account. This method requires to have access to a computer hooked up to the Internet, and iTunes installed on it.

  1. Launch iTunes on the computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to the PC using the proprietary USB cable
  3. Once connected, the iPhone should appear in iTunes. Click it to view the summary page
  4. Go to the "Info" tab and place a check mark next to "Sync Contacts With"
  5. Select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  6. Register your Google account with iTunes. If you've already added a Google account prior to this guide, then you can click "Configure" and select an account from the list
  7. Click "Apply" to commence the syncing process
  8. Switch over to the Sony Xperia Z2A and register the same account on your Android device. NOTE: to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Allow Google to sync contacts with your Xperia Z2A

Transferring Contacts via iCloud:

The iCloud service gives users the option of exporting contacts in the form of a vCard file, which can then be used on an Android device for easy contact transfer. Assuming that you have used the iCloud service on your iPhone before, then your contacts should already be backed up onto your iCloud account.

  1. Open the Internet browser on your computer
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your account
  3. Click "Contacts" and select the contacts that you wish to export
  4. Click the icon shaped like a cog wheel, and select "Export vCard"
  5. The vCard file will now be downloaded on your PC
  6. Once downloaded, import the VCF file's contents to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, connect the Xperia Z2A to your computer via USB and transfer the vCard file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Next up, open the "Phone" app, access the "Contacts" tab and tap "menu" > "import contacts" > "SD card". If necessary, select an account and then tap the vCard file before pressing "OK"

Using "My Contacts Backup":

If you're looking for methods of transfer that don't require access to a computer, then you can use various third party applications such as "My Contacts Backup" to complete the process. This is an iOS app that can back up your contacts and transfer them via email.

  1. Launch the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup". This will create a vCard file containing all of your iPhone contacts
  3. After the file has been created, tap "Email" to attach it to a new email
  4. Send the email with the attachment to your own Gmail address
  5. Switch over to the Xperia Z2A and open the email
  6. Download the attached file, and import its contents using the contacts application and the "Import" function

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Finally, you can also use "Send Anywhere" for transferring contacts cross-platform. This third party app works on iOS and Android, and performs file transfers via a P2P connection, thus access to a computer is not required in order to complete the transfer.

  1. Go to the App Store and install "Send Anywhere" on the iPhone
  2. From the Google Play Store, download the same app on the Sony Xperia Z2A
  3. Launch the app on both smartphones
  4. Tap "Send" on the iPhone, and select "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts that you wish to share and tap "Send"
  6. In the final step, choose the desired method of transfer. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone, and scan the resulting code with the Xperia Z2A's camera to commence the transfer. By tapping "Receive" on the Sony device, you can also commence the transfer by entering the randomly generated code from the iPhone
