Transferring Contacts via iTunes:

iTunes is a great tool that allows you to sync the contact stored on your iPhone with a Google account. By doing this, you can then easily re-sync the contacts stored on the account with your Android smartphone - in this case the Sony Xperia C3. This method of contact transfer requires access to a computer hooked up to the Internet, and iTunes installed on it.

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect the iPhone to your PC
  3. The iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click it to reveal the summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and then mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  5. Select "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  6. Register your Google account in iTunes. If you've done this before, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account
  7. Click "Apply" to sync the contacts
  8. Once the process is complete, register the same Google account on your Sony Xperia C3. (NOTE: to add one, go to "Settings" > "Accounts")
  9. Allow the account to sync contacts with your Android device

Transferring Contacts via iCloud:

The iCloud service allows you to back up and export iPhone contacts in the form of VCF files. If you've used iCloud on your iPhone before, then your contacts should already be backed up. You can use an Internet browser to sign in to your iCloud account, and export these contacts for Android use. This method requires access to a computer:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Log in with your account and click "Contacts"
  3. Mark the contacts that you want to share
  4. Click the "settings" icon located in the lower-left area, and select "Export vCard"
  5. Wait for your computer to download the exported VCF file
  6. Import the file to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, connect the Xperia C3 to your computer and manually transfer the file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the "People" app, and import the file's contents via the application's menu

Using "My Contacts Backup":

Both the iTunes and iCloud methods require the user to have access to a computer which in turn has access to the Internet. However, you can still transfer contacts without the help of a PC, by making use of third party apps such as "My Contacts Backup". This is an iOS app that can back up and send your iPhone contacts to an Android device via email.

  1. Go to the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup"
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup". This will create a VCF file with all your contacts
  3. Tap "Email" to start a new email, and attach the file to it
  4. Enter your own Gmail address as the email's recipient, and send it
  5. Switch to the Sony Xperia C3 and open the email
  6. Download the attached VCF file, and import its contents via the "People" application and by using the "Import" function

Using "Send Anywhere":

Last but not least, "Send Anywhere" is both an iOS and Android third party application that can transfer contacts and various other types of files, cross-platform, over a peer-2-peer connection. As such, you can transfer your contacts without using a computer.

  1. Visit the App Store and install "Send Anywhere" on your iPhone
  2. From the Xperia C3, visit the Play Store and install the same app
  3. Open the application on both smartphones
  4. Switch over to the sender device and tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts you wish to share with the Xperia C3, and tap "Send"
  6. Lastly, select a method of contact transfer. By tapping "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone you can commence the contact transfer by scanning the code with the Xperia C3's camera. As an alternative, you can tap "Receive" on the Sony smartphone, and type in the randomly generated transfer code displayed on the iPhone's screen
