Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Power management"
  4. Tap the "STAMINA mode" and set the switch to "ON"
  5. Tap the switches associated with "Low battery mode" and "Location-based Wi-Fi" and set them to "ON"
    • To edit how "STAMINA mode" works, tap the option (not the switch) and then:
      1. Tap "Activation" and swipe the "battery level" slider to adjust the percentage at which STAMINA mode becomes active
      2. Tap "OK"
      3. Optionally, add or remove apps from the "Apps Active in Standby" list
    • To edit how "Low Battery mode" works tap the option and:
      1. Edit the necessary settings for the "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" options
      2. Clear or mark the check boxes next to "Vibrate on touch off", "Auto-sync off" etc.

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Display" > "Brightness"
  4. Clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" if necessary
  5. Hold the "Brightness" slider and drag it to the left to lower the brightness
  6. Tap "OK" > "Sleep" and select a lower value such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Portable Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:"

NOTE: It's recommended that you keep your smartphone's connectivity features disabled whenever they are not in use, as they can heavily impact your phone's battery performance on the long run

  1. While viewing the home screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down
  2. Tap the switches next to "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" (GPS) to disable the features
  3. Tap the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner
  4. Swipe to "Wireless & Networks" and tap "More"
  5. Tap "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot"
  6. Clear the check box associated with "Mobile Hotspot"

Changing the Sync Settings for Apps:

  1. Tap the "Applications" icon from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "Accounts"
  3. Select the type of account you wish to edit
  4. Select your account name if necessary
  5. Clear the check boxes associated with the desired options to disable automatic sync

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Tap "Data usage" under "Wireless & Networks"
  3. Touch the "Menu" button located in the top-right corner
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Although you may not use certain 3rd party apps installed on your phone, some apps can still affect your phone's battery performance, assuming that they run processes in the background. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall applications you don't use.

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings" and scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps" and swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  4. Select the desired app and tap "Disable" or "Uninstall" > "OK"

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "More" under "Wireless & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network Mode"
  4. Select "WCDMA"

Keeping Your Smartphone Updated:

NOTE: Smartphone manufacturers can release new software updates that fix or improve battery life. As such, you should keep your smartphone up to date. To check if new builds are available:

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll to "System" and tap "About phone"
  3. Tap "Software updates"
  4. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it on the Sony Xperia Z3
