Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC to Use as Ringtones / Notifications:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect the Sony Xperia Z3 to your computer
  2. From the AutoPlay window that should appear on the computer, click to browse the phone's files and folders
  3. Access the phone's "Internal Storage" directory
  4. Go to the "Music" or "Notifications" folder
  5. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the desired audio files are stored on the PC's hard drive
  6. Copy the files, and paste them in the "Music" and / or "Notifications" folder(s)
  7. When the process is done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray
  8. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
  9. It's now safe to disconnect your smartphone

Changing the Phone Ringtone:

  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Sound"
  4. Tap "Phone ringtone" under "Ringtone & Vibration"
  5. Tap the "Music" icon located in the upper-right corner
  6. Navigate to and select the audio file you wish to set as your phone's ringtone
  7. Tap "Done"

Changing the Ringtone of a Specific Contact:

NOTE: You can't assign custom ringtones to contacts saved o the SIM card or the phone's internal memory

  1. Launch the "Phone" app
  2. Tap the "Contacts" tab located in the upper-left corner of the screen
  3. Select the contact you want to edit
  4. Tap the "Edit contact" icon located in the top-right area of the screen
  5. Scroll to and tap the "Ringtone" drop-down menu
  6. Tap the "Music" icon located in the top-right corner
  7. Select the audio file you wish to use and tap "Done"

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe to "Device" and tap "Sound"
  3. Under "System", tap "Default notification sound"
  4. Newly added files (in the "Notifications" folder) should appear at the bottom of the list
  5. Select the desired notification sound and tap "Done"
