Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "Applications" icon
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Power management"
  4. Tap the "STAMINA mode" and "Low battery mode" switches to turn them on
  5. To customize how STAMINA mode works:
    1. Tap "STAMINA mode"
    2. Tap "Activation" and select the battery level at which the phone enters STAMINA mode automatically
    3. Tap "OK"
    4. Optionally, add or remove applications to/from the "Apps Active in Standby" list
  6. To customize how Low Battery mode works:
    1. Tap "Low battery mode"
    2. Edit the "Screen brightness" and "Screen timeout" settings as you desire
    3. Select or clear the check boxes next to "Vibrate on touch off", "GPS off", "Auto-sync off" etc.

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. From the home screen tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "Device" and tap "Display"
  4. Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box
  5. Tap the "Brightness" slider and drag it to the left to set the screen brightness to a lower level
  6. Tap "OK" > "Sleep"
  7. Select a lower timeout duration, like "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth and GPS:

  1. While on the home screen, drag the "Status" bar down
  2. Tap the icons associated with "Wi-Fi", "Bluetooth" and "Location" (GPS) to disable these features
  3. Tap the "Settings" icon located in the top-right corner
  4. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "More"
  5. Tap "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot"
  6. Clear the check box next to "Mobile Hotspot"

Change the Application Sync Settings:

  1. Tap "Applications" from the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Accounts" and select the type of account you want to edit
  4. Select your name if necessary
  5. Clear as many check boxes as possible in order to reduce the amount of data being synced

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
  2. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "Data usage"
  3. Tap the "Menu" icon in the upper-right corner of the screen
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Some third party applications can have an effect on your phone's battery life even when they are not running. Assuming that an app runs processes in the background, it may affect battery performance on the long run. As such, it's recommended that you disable or uninstall 3rd party apps that you don't use.

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
  2. Scroll to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps" and if necessary, swipe to the "Downloaded" screen
  4. Select an application and tap "Disable" to turn it off, or "Uninstall" > "OK" to completely remove it

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe under "Wireless & Networks" and tap "More"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network mode" and select "WCDMA"

Update the Android OS:

NOTE: New software updates can oftentimes include battery life improvements, so it's recommended that you keep your smartphone up to date. To check for updates:

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Open "Settings"
  3. Scroll to "System" and tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "Software update" and follow any additional prompts that may follow

NOTE: if no software updates are available, then following the steps above will have no effect on your phone's battery performance
