Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Power management"
  4. Set the "STAMINA mode" switch to "ON"
  5. Tap the switches next to "Location-based Wi-Fi" and "Low battery mode" and set them to "ON"
    • To further edit how STAMINA mode works:
      1. Tap "STAMINA mode" (the text, not the switch)
      2. Tap "Activation" and set the "battery level" slider to the desired percentage (this is when STAMINA mode becomes active automatically)
      3. Tap "OK"
      4. You can optionally add or remove applications from the "Apps Active in Standby" list
    • To edit how "Low Battery Mode" works:
      1. Tap the option
      2. Edit the necessary settings associated with "Screen timeout" and "Screen brightness"
      3. Clear or mark the check boxes associated with "Auto-Sync off" and "Vibrate on touch off"

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Adjusting Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Display" > "Brightness"
  4. Clear the "Adapt to lighting conditions" check box if necessary
  5. Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left and set it to a lower level
  6. Tap "OK"
  7. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower timeout duration, like "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: A smartphone's connectivity features can have a big impact on your phone's battery performance, so it's recommended to disable these features whenever they are not in use. To do so:

  1. Swipe the "Notification" bar down while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap the switches next to "Bluetooth", "Wi-Fi" and "Location" (GPS) to disable these options
  3. Tap the "Settings" icon and swipe to "Wireless & Networks"
  4. Tap "More" > "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot"
  5. Clear the check box next to "Mobile Hotspot"

Changing Application Sync Settings:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Access "Settings" and scroll to "Accounts"
  3. Select the type of account you want to edit
  4. If necessary, select your account name
  5. Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you wish to disable

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Access the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap "Data usage"
  3. Press the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right corner
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Even though you may not use certain 3rd party apps installed on your phone, certain applications can still have an effect on your phone's battery autonomy, assuming that these apps run processes, updates etc. in the background. It's recommended to disable or uninstall unused applications. To do so:

  1. From the home screen, tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
  2. Swipe to "Device"
  3. Tap "Apps" and access the "Downloaded" screen
  4. Choose the desired app
  5. Tap "Disable", or tap "Uninstall" > "OK"

Switch from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu and tap "More"
  2. Swipe to "Wireless & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile networks" > "Network Mode"
  4. Tap "WCDMA"

Keeping Your Smartphone Up To Date:

NOTE: New software updates sometime include fixes and / or improvements to battery life, so it's recommended to keep your smartphone up to date. To check for software updates:

  1. Go to the "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "About phone" > "Software updates"
  4. If an update is available for download, follow the on-screen instructions to apply it on your phone
