Clearing an App's Cache and / or Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications isn't working properly then you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the respective app's cache. If clearing the cache fails, you can also try clearing the application's data. WARNING! Unlike clearing the cache, when wiping an app's data you will lose personal information stored within the app, such as saved games, credit card information, high scores, settings, profiles etc. That being said, it's recommended that you first try clearing the app's cache before wiping the data.

    1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
    2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "Device"
    3. Tap "Apps" and go to the "Downloaded" or "All" screen
    4. Select the problematic application and tap "Clear Cache"
    5. If clearing the cache hasn't solved the problem, tap "Clear data" > "OK"

    Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your smartphone isn't working as intended, it crashes, freezes etc. then you might already consider applying a master reset. Before doing so however, you might be able to fix these issues experienced on your phone by wiping the phone's cache partition. Unlike a factory reset, wiping the cache partition will not remove all personal data on the phone's internal memory, and it will not return all settings to factory values. To wipe the Sony Xperia E3's cache partition:

    1. Ensure that your smartphone is turned on
    2. Press and hold the "Power" and "Volume Up" keys
    3. Wait for the smartphone to turn off the display and for it to vibrate three times
    4. Once the smartphone's screen shuts off, release all hardware keys
    5. The cache partition should now be wiped. Reboot your Xperia E3 as you normally would and see if the problems are solved

NOTE: If the problems persist after wiping the cache partition and you're considering master resetting the phone, you can follow this link for a full guide on master resetting the Sony Xperia E3.

Enabling Safe Mode and Uninstalling an App:

NOTE: In case you have downloaded a third party application that causes issues on your phone and prevents you from uninstalling it (as it may run processes in the background), then you can remove the app by rebooting your phone into Safe Mode first. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.

    1. Ensure that your smartphone is turned on
    2. Press and hold the "Power" button
    3. In the pop-up message, tap and hold "Power off"
    4. When prompted about rebooting in Safe Mode, tap "OK"
    5. Wait for your smartphone to reboot, and once the process is complete you should see a "safe mode" message in the lower-left corner of the display. You can now remove the app by following the steps below:
    6. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
    7. Access the phone's "Settings" menu and swipe to "Device"
    8. Tap "Apps" and scroll to "Downloaded"
    9. Select the app you wish to remove and tap "Uninstall" > "OK"
    10. To exit safe mode simply press and hold the "Power" button, and then tap "Power off". Finish the process by powering up your phone as you normally would
